The Fonda House
Røros Cultural Center

Fondahuset is a well-known functionalist villa in Røros that was originally built as a representative residence for the company HÅG (today the name is Flokk).

The villa got its name because the American actress Jane Fonda lived in the house during the filming of A Doll's House in Røros in 1972.

Today, Fondahuset is used as a cultural center for various events such as art exhibitions and concerts.

Jane Fonda is an American actress and activist. She was born on December 21, 1937, in New York City, United States.

Fonda made her acting debut in 1960 in the Broadway play There Was a Little Girl. She received her first Academy Award nomination for the film They SHoot Horses, Don't They? in 1968 and later won Academy Awards for Best Actress in the films Klute in 1971 and Coming Home in 1978.

Fonda has also been an activist and involved in political issues since the 1960s.

She has been a strong opponent of the Vietnam War and has also been involved in environmental protection and women's rights.

A Doll's House

Jane Fonda starred in a 1973 British film version of Henrik Ibsen's play "A Doll's House." The film was directed by Joseph Losey and also starred Edward Fox, Trevor Howard, and Delphine Seyrig.

Premiere

Ibsen's play premiered at the Royal Theatre in Copenhagen in 1879 and was a scathing critique of the traditional roles of men and women in Victorian marriage.
